The Curious Case of Tom Durkin

Tom Durkin is not "from here." He spent three years working in the legislature in the seventies and then worked for a couple of years at the Supreme Court until 1982 when he set out on his acting career. He first travelled to to New York and eventually landed in Los Angeles. He had roles in the ABC Soaps General Hospital and Port Charles. 

Tom brings his tremendous talent to Jefferson City theater as he recently directed "Dixie Swim Club" sponsored by the Capital City Players. Peggy works with Tom at the Attorney General Chris Koster's Office. She asked him where he'd been, and why he came back after twenty years. 

It's one of the nicest assessments of our town I have ever heard.

Peggy Reflects on the Mac's 25th Birthday

Twenty-five years ago today Apple introduced its Macintosh computer with a Super Bowl commercial that would become one of the most famous ads of all time. Seven years later, my father gave our family his old DOS computer. He had trouble remembering the commands to open and close the programs. A friend told me I should get a Mac because they were so easy to use. With a four year old daughter and a two year old son I had no time to deal with DOS details, so I took the plunge and it changed my life! 

Within one year I created a Cookbook/Memory Book that's still a treasure for the Landwehrs. With advances in digital photography and the ease of use of the iLife series, I have created over 30 slideshow DVDs of our kids' sports teams and memories of family members who have passed. A group that enabled me to do so much with this computer is our local apple computer club, appleJAC. We meet once a month at Lewis and Clark Middle School and the Mac Gurus give us tips, show us the latest software, and have fun sharing our experiences with the machines that we love.
