It's taken a while to get the team picture, but it's never too late to celebrate a great athletic achievement by locals. How appropriate that a Jefferson City team took first place last month in the Team Division at the Missouri River 340 with a time of 46 hours, 42 minutes. Congrats to Todd Wilson, Jim Cowley, Kevin Schwartz and Matt Green. Of course, anyone participating in this event is insane. But we love them anyway.
We had lots of fun on the river during the day, but the nights were a little tough. I think a some point each of us wanted to give up. Luckily we didn't all feel that way at the same time. I wouldn't want to spend 46hrs with any other three guys. We made a great team, and we are already planning/training for the 2010 MR340. Trying to make mid mo proud. A Missouri team has never been the over all winner. Maybe there is hope.
The team is currently trying to put on a new race on the Gasaconade River. Only 100 miles. Finishing at the MO river confluence. The end of May is the tentative time for that event. Much more appealing the masses.
